OLD-FASHIONED THRESHING
The folk groups of the municipality of Esposende, in partnership with the Municipality, are once again bringing tradition to life with another edition of Desfolhada à Moda Antiga (Old-Fashioned Corn Husking) — a faithful recreation of the customs of yesteryear, open to the whole community.
Come and watch the corn being husked and threshed live, accompanied by lots of entertainment, dancing and traditional singing by the participating groups. A celebration of popular culture, collective memory and intergenerational conviviality.
Performances: Rancho Folclórico de Fonte Boa, Grupo Folclórico de Palmeira de Faro, Rancho Folclórico Danças e Cantares de Marinhas and Grupo de Sargaceiros da Casa do Povo de Apúlia.
Ethnographic recreation: Rancho Folclórico Sargaceiro da Vila de Apúlia, Grupo Associativo de Divulgação Tradicional de Forjães, Ronda de Vila Chã and Rancho Folclórico As Moleirinhas das Marinhas.

THRESHING
In the heart of Forjães, in Souto de São Roque, older people gather to begin the traditional corn husking, accompanied by folk songs that fill the air with nostalgia and joy.
To close this unique moment, there will be a lively snack accompanied by the concertinas of the Forjães Dance and Singing Group, music and flavours that celebrate local culture and friendship.
Part of Ativo + | Collaborative programme for the promotion of active and healthy longevity, the Desfolhada is promoted by the Lar Santo António Foundation, in collaboration with the Associação Social Cultural Artística e Recreativa de Forjães (ACARF) and aims to promote the ancient traditions of older people.

EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS '25 | "ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE"
The 42nd edition of European Heritage Days is themed ‘Architectural Heritage’ and the Municipality of Esposende will be participating in these events on 20 (Saturday) and 21 (Sunday) September.
The theme of the European Heritage Days seeks to delve into the rich and varied architectural landscape that shapes Europe's cultural identity, while marking the 50th anniversary of the 1975 ‘European Architectural Heritage Year’.
This initiative by the Council of Europe invites communities to explore and celebrate Architectural Heritage in its various styles, periods and architectural materials that have shaped Europe's built environment. It seeks to encourage a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship and intangible cultural heritage involved in the creation of these structures. It aims to promote a greater understanding of how our built environment reflects and influences our shared history, while inspiring efforts to protect and conserve this heritage for future generations.
