Esposende Museum

The Esposende Municipal Museum is responsible for acquiring, researching and, above all, exhibiting and conserving the historical, cultural, ethnographic, artistic and landscape heritage of the municipality of Esposende for the purposes of study, education and public enjoyment. It aims to be a resource for building and publicising the municipality's cultural and artistic identity, through knowledge, memory, identity and heritage. The Esposende Municipal Museum regularly organises temporary exhibitions with various themes and contents, as well as art exhibitions and various publications.
This facility is housed in the historic TEATRO-CLUB building in Esposende, which opened in 1911 and was designed by one of the biggest names in Portuguese architecture at the time, Miguel Ventura Terra (1866-1919). It opened to the public as a museum in August 1993, after renovation work by architect Bernardo Ferrão (1945-2006).
